What people are saying about Ourselves Walking: ...Thank you for sending me the beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes when I read it. Ann Marie must be very special... ~Paula, 30 year double-mastectomy breast cancer survivor.
Ann Marie Davis has been a writer, artist and reader since she was about four. In her grammar school years, she combined her stories, poems and drawings as handmade books. As an adult, she created holiday cards and gave them in lieu of store-bought presents. She founded Hold On* Publishing Co. in 2007.
In 1993, Ann Marie heard Maya Angelou read at President Bill Clinton's inauguration. Afterwards, she bought that inaugural poem "On The Pulse of Morning." It was presented as a small, beautifully typeset sixteen page book. Recently, she remembered this book and created a beautifully typeset book of encouragement.
She came to the Women's Initiative, a non-profit for women in micro businesses, after she went down what she calls "one of her rabbit holes" on an unrelated Google search. That was when something inside told her, this is where you need to be. Go.
The Women's Initiative taught Ann Marie to step out of her flights of imagination and to transform this gift into a sustainable career. The course and support system taught her practical business training and self empowerment. She has been a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area for her entire life. She is surrounded by her chosen family of people on a similar creative spirit path.
